Agent selection: confirm they have CERT submission qualifications. Some agents only submit documents – responding slowly to queries – delaying the project. Include response‑time commitments and supplementary‑assistance scope in the contract. Coordinate the representative with your freight forwarder – aligning sample logistics and document submissions – reducing delays from information gaps.
The local representative also bears legal responsibility under local law – factor this into selection.

Don't only focus on certification costs – demurrage and storage fees are high. Connect certification to the full customs‑clearance chain – keeping all parties informed – avoiding the passive situation of goods arriving before the certificate.
8. Certificate and Customs Clearance
A type‑approval certificate does not guarantee smooth customs clearance. Customs will cross‑check the certificate, bill of lading, invoice, and product labels. Even with the certificate – if the label doesn't show the approval number, or model numbers on documents are inconsistent – goods will be detained.
After certificate issuance, compile a customs‑clearance package – including the certificate, label artwork, and document templates – give it to your customs team. Close the full loop – avoiding all prior work being blocked at the final customs step.
