Full Guide to HUAWEI HiCar Certification Documents & Certificate Validity (2026)

2026-05-27

This article details categorized documents for each HiCar certification phase, as well as certificate validity and renewal requirements — common pain points in actual operation.

1. HiCar Certification Documents by Phase

Documents are submitted in different phases instead of one single package. All materials are divided into four categories: enterprise qualification documents, product technical documents, test sample documents and contract documents.

1.1 Enterprise Qualification Documents (Ecosystem Access Phase)

These documents verify the legality and qualification of applicants to join the HiCar ecosystem:

·Business License: Unified social credit version with valid term, stamped with company seal. All enterprise information must be consistent across all submitted documents.

·Legal Representative Authorization Letter: Use Huawei’s official template, submitted via DevicePartner Platform during the application phase. It certifies the enterprise’s legal authorization for product certification and guarantees true application information.

·Cooperation Agreements: HiCar Ecosystem Cooperation Memorandum and relevant user agreements, signed online via Huawei Developer Alliance to complete official ecosystem access.

1.2 Product Technical Documents (Full Process)

This is the most error-prone category with frequent version updates:

·Product Technical Specification: Specify supported connection modes (wired/wireless/both), main control chip model, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi module model & firmware version, vehicle OS version, HiCar SDK version and adapted vehicle list. The document version must be consistent with test samples.

·Hardware & Software Configuration List: Separately submitted document recording detailed information of core components. It is critical for equivalent testing review, so all parameters must be filled accurately.

·User Manual & Product Function Description: Required for OEM and aftermarket head units, to verify compliance with HiCar design specifications.

·HiCar Function Coverage List: Compiled during internal self-testing, recording covered functions and test results in accordance with official templates.

1.3 Self-Test Report (Hard Threshold for Formal Testing)

A qualified self-test report is a mandatory entry ticket for official testing:

·100% Pass Rate Requirement: No partial pass is allowed. Applications without full qualified self-test results will be rejected directly.

·Official Template Only: Use the latest HUAWEI HiCar Vehicle Access Acceptance Self-Test Report matching the current SDK version. Old templates are invalid.

·Supporting Evidence: Complete test logs and screenshots must be attached. Reports with only pass/fail conclusions (no logs) will be rejected.

·Test Device Requirements: Use mainstream Huawei Mate/P series flagship smartphones released in recent years for self-testing.

·Equivalent Testing Application Form: Additional document for expedited testing, which must be reviewed and signed by authorized laboratories before submission to Huawei.

1.4 Test Samples (Highest Rejection Rate)

OEM Products

·3 complete test benches with full accessories (main unit, display, power supply, audio devices, control buttons, GPS antenna and wiring harness).

·1 complete mass-production vehicle with valid temporary license plates (≥90 days valid term, covering test areas), full insurance and standard vehicle condition. Engineering samples and vehicles with modified configurations are not accepted.

Aftermarket Products

1 to 2 sets of finished product samples (mass-production version only), no complete vehicle required.

  2. HiCar Certificate Validity: Strict 1-Year Term

All HiCar certificates are valid for 12 months exactly, with no grace period or extended term. Huawei will send renewal reminders via platform messages and emails 3 months before expiration.

If renewal procedures are delayed until one month before expiration, the process cannot be completed on time. Expired certificates will be invalidated, and applicants have to restart the full initial certification process. Huawei reserves the right to conduct random sample inspections after certification. Products with degraded performance or functional anomalies during spot checks will be required to rectify or recertify.

  3. HiCar Certificate Renewal Documents & Procedures

Renewal is completed via online testing (no sample delivery), covering 50% of core test cases. The whole process takes 4 to 6 weeks. Document requirements vary based on product version changes:

·No software/hardware updates: Submit product status statement and renewal application only.

·Minor software updates: Attach new version adaptation report and full self-test report (with log screenshots).

·Major HiCar core function updates: Report to Huawei 15 days before official firmware release. Major changes require additional tests before renewal. Unauthorized firmware updates may lead to product removal from Huawei’s compatible device list.
