Huawei SuperCharge (SCP) fast-charge certification is an ecosystem-admission review, not third-party mandatory testing. Huawei's ecosystem side sets the test specs and pass criteria; partner labs only run the tests and output data, with no result-interpretation authority — the review decision sits with Huawei's ecosystem team. Misunderstand this and projects easily go sideways.
It is a separate system from HiCar: SuperCharge focuses on protocol licensing and hardware compliance; HiCar leans toward software docking and car connectivity. Many companies estimate fast-charge timelines from the HiCar project pace, causing big lead-time errors. Chargers, car chargers, and power banks wanting Huawei super-fast charging must clear this ecosystem admission; only compliant licensed solutions unlock the fast-charge capability.
The process in three blocks
Block one — sign the ecosystem framework agreement and get the SDK: SCP and FCP protocol docs and self-test tools are open only to signed ecosystem partners. Without signing, the certification submission channel cannot open. Framework partnership and single-product certification are handled separately, with lab testing billed separately. Patent licensing needs a separate agreement and does not auto-attach with certification.
Block two — hardware development and self-test: using an off-the-shelf adapted solution, development and self-test take about 1–1.5 months; most projects do multi-device compatibility tuning, and two to three months is normal. Self-test must use Huawei-designated models and official tools, run all test cases; failing self-test means no formal submission. In 2026 self-test data scrutiny tightened — labs check the authenticity of self-test materials.
Block three — formal lab testing: after all self-tests pass, submit the inspection request on the platform and ship 3–5 mass-production samples with original cables, firmware at the production-stable version. Huawei back-end document review takes 7–10 business days — many projects miss this time. Smooth sailing yields a certificate in two to three months; repeated remediation stretches it to four to six months.
Validity and renewal rules
The product certificate is normally valid two years. Within validity, replacing key hardware like the charge IC or transformer needs a full retest; pure software-parameter adjustment can take simplified filing; changing only the housing does not affect validity.
With hardware completely unchanged, at expiry you submit materials for review to renew. Once hardware changes, renewal test cost is set by the change scope — no fixed discount. 2026 adds a brand-authorization submission requirement: a product nameplate carrying an external brand must submit brand-authorization materials, or it is rejected outright. ODM self-branded submissions must keep brand ownership matching the submitting entity; missing docs stall the project.
Core test items
Protocol handshake is a key checkpoint: the charger and terminal establish an SCP connection through many handshake cycles, avoiding abnormal retries; frequent timeouts or disconnects fail the item, and you also verify plug-reconnect and interference-environment stability.
Temperature rise uses two test conditions: at 25°C, full charge for 30 minutes, adapter housing not above 65°C, battery not above 45°C; at 40°C high temperature, the housing cap drops to 60°C. Designing only to normal temperature easily fails the high-temperature item. Short-circuit, over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature protection all have explicit response-time hard requirements.
2026 new test requirements
80W and 100W SCP chargers add dynamic load-step and −10°C low-temperature charging evaluation. Wired SCP plus wireless charging combo devices add wireless-module temperature-rise and foreign-object-detection evaluation. Build these conditions into design at kickoff; do not modify the sample late.
Huawei buys market products from e-commerce channels for sampling; non-compliant markings, output, or protocol leads to takedown. Only certified products can trigger super-fast charging; unauthorized accessories run only ordinary 5V charging.
Document checklist points
1.Company qualification: framework agreement, single-product application form, brand and production authorization, chip and protocol-scheme materials.
2.Technical docs: spec, schematics, PCB data, firmware version and change records.
Self-test reports must be generated by Huawei's official tools, covering all cases. Document versions must match the submitted samples; mismatch means rejection. 2026 tightens self-test-material authenticity control — faked materials get the application rejected and submission rights limited, and even issued certificates can be withdrawn.
Practical advice
At kickoff, settle the compliant fast-charge chip solution; do not count on a protocol-crack approach — even if hardware connects, it won't activate super-fast charging. In self-test, run all cases with the designated terminal, and lock sample and document versions. In scheduling, count Huawei's 7–10 day back-end review — do not tally only test time.

Within the two-year validity, if you plan to replace the charge IC or transformer, reserve retest budget and lead time up front.
2. Report hardware changes promptly
Housing changes do not affect the certificate, but hardware changes must be reported promptly — do not wait for a sampling failure to fix it. SuperCharge renewal is not a simple re-run of the process; most hardware changes need retesting. Good design planning up front eases later renewal pressure.
