Many accessory makers misunderstand where Huawei SuperCharge (SCP) certification actually sits. SCP is Huawei's proprietary low-voltage direct-charge protocol — it delivers high wattage by pushing higher current rather than higher voltage. The phone is the host end and stays fully under Huawei's control. Certification targets the power-supplying accessories: the adapters, car chargers and power banks that push energy out. An uncertified adapter plugged into a Huawei phone tops out at basic 5V charging and never enters the SCP fast-charge tier. Get the two ends straight first, or you will prepare the wrong paperwork.
If you want your product to carry the SuperCharge mark and be auto-recognised by a Huawei phone for fast charging, these categories essentially cannot avoid certification.
Covered Core Categories
(1) Wired chargers. This is the most demanding category. Heads rated from 22.5W up to 100W all count. Huawei is strict on handshake stability, so the charging head is the backbone of SCP certification.
(2) Power banks. Sometimes called mobile power. Products that claim SCP support — all-in-one cables, multi-protocol bidirectional super-fast charging — each need their own certification. Plenty of third-party brands only label SCP wattage after securing Huawei authorisation.
(3) Car chargers. The units that convert a cigarette-lighter port in the car. SCP-supporting car chargers also go through end-side certification. Aftermarket car-charger factories often assume a small accessory is exempt, then get pulled for spot-check takedowns after listing.
(4) Data cables. SCP cables handshake through a dedicated identification resistor or protocol chip — not the E-Marker (that belongs to the USB PD system). Cables are certified together with the charger as a whole, or managed under Huawei's designated cable-supplier system; there is no freely applied independent cable certification code.
(5) Wireless chargers. Wireless fast charging runs on Huawei's own wireless fast-charge protocol, a separate system from wired SCP. Tests cover foreign-object detection, temperature rise and position compatibility. Do not treat it as an ordinary Qi product, and do not file it under the wired SCP framework.

2. What Does NOT Need Separate Certification
Huawei's own host devices — phones, tablets — are outside the accessory certification scope. Ordinary non-SCP cables and pure PD-protocol products also do not need SCP. A common mistake is treating "charges a Huawei phone" as equivalent to "must do SCP"; products that only run basic 5V do not. When in doubt, check Huawei's authorised-lab list first rather than committing to tooling blindly.
3. The Hard Metrics You Must Pass
Protocol handshake is the highest-threshold item: the head and phone rebuild the link repeatedly, and the requirement is zero failures. A single dropout or power dip means a fail. The online rumour of an allowed 0.1% failure rate is false. Temperature rise is measured on the charger enclosure — at 25°C ambient, the shell must stay at or below 65°C (a common industry reference value); high-temperature environments adjust the limit per test conditions. Short-circuit, over-voltage, over-current and over-temperature protection are general safety requirements (referencing IEC 62368 and GB 4943) and are also covered by SCP testing, with specific response times per Huawei's certification spec. Leave design margin on these numbers; do not wait for sample submission to fix them.
4. Marking and Market Supervision
After passing, Huawei issues a formal certificate and the product may carry the SuperCharge mark, but colour, ratio and placement follow the trademark spec strictly. Huawei buys samples from e-commerce platforms for spot checks; non-compliant protocol or wattage leads to delisting, and large-scale unauthorised use of the mark draws intellectual-property litigation. The mark is not free to print, and printing it wrong still gets it cleared off the shelf. Authorised labs sit in Shenzhen, Shanghai and other cities — confirm the lab's qualification before submitting samples.
5. Pitfalls Factories Keep Hitting
Swapping the charging IC or transformer counts as a key-component change and triggers differential testing or a change evaluation; whether a full retest is needed depends on the change scope. Adjusting software parameters alone goes through simplified filing, and a shell change does not affect the certificate. Brand-authorisation documents are baseline mandatory material — if the nameplate carries an external brand, that must be submitted or Huawei rejects outright. Many factories kit everything out, then realise the wattage tier was not covered and the whole schedule falls apart. Certificate validity follows Huawei's issuance, commonly around two years, after which renewal or change depends on whether the hardware moved.
6. How SCP Relates to Export Certification
SCP is a Huawei-ecosystem authorisation, not a country market-access licence. A charging product with Bluetooth needs BQB on top for export; one with Wi-Fi needs FCC ID, CE RED, KC RF and similar wireless approvals — not every wireless product needs BQB. A wired car charger entering the EU passes EMC; entering Korea goes through KC safety (under KATS); only a wireless car charger touches RRA radio-frequency certification.
