3. Which products need Qi certification?

4. What are the types and test contents of Qi certification?
Qi certification type
The certified products are divided into the following three types of certification according to different load power:
1) Qi-BPP certification:
The product supports power below 5W, uses the Qi protocol, and must pass BPP certification.
2) Qi-EPP certification:
The product supports more than 5W power, uses the Qi protocol, and must pass EPP certification.
3) Qi-PPDE certification:
The product supports more than 5W power, uses Samsung's private protocol PPDE, and must pass BPP certification + PPDE test (implemented from July 1, 2019).

The Qi certification test process consists of two parts. One is the Compliance Test and the other is the Qi Interoperability Test.
The main test contents of the compliance test include:
1) The timing of the communication protocol between the transmitter and the receiver;
2) Test the power output capability through the translation of the XYZ axes;
3) The maximum supply capacity of energy transmission;
4) Foreign object detection FOD (Foreign Object Detection).
Compatibility testing includes two aspects:
1) When the transmitter and receiver are put together, the two need to establish communication within 3 seconds;
2) When the battery power of the test product is 10% to 20%, it needs to be charged for five minutes.

1) Application for membership of the Wireless Charging Alliance (WPC);
2) Product registration;
3) Product offering;
4) Product conformity test;
5) Product compatibility test;
6) Final product confirmation;
7) Review and issue certificates.

6. How long does the Qi certification cycle take?
Certification period: 20 working days; certification samples: 5.
Note: This certification cycle does not include sample correction time.
7. What are the precautions for applying for Qi certification?
1) Qi certification is only for WPC members, so manufacturers must first become WPC members.
2) Qi certification is only valid when completed in a laboratory authorized by WPC.
3) Qi certification is a voluntary certification, not a requirement of local market regulations. In addition to passing the Qi certification, the product must also meet the corresponding local regulations.
4) Manufacturers currently use Qi standard to produce products, temporarily exempt from patent technology fees, and whether they will be free in the future will be notified.
