Taking on Huawei fast-charge accessory work, eight of ten times the hardware was tuned long ago and it stalls at document submission. SuperCharge is a private protocol; the specification text and self-test tools open only to signatories, so little is publicly checkable and checklist versions differ by channel. Below, in submission order, are the four categories of materials, with a few frequently-confused concepts pulled apart.
1.1 SuperCharge and SCP are not two systems
SuperCharge is Huawei's external trademark name; SCP (Super Charge Protocol) is the underlying communication protocol. What you pass is the SCP technical assessment; the trademark authorisation takes effect only after listing.
1.2 FCP is the previous generation
FCP launched with the Mate 8 in 2015, running high voltage — 9V/2A at about 18W, with a separate 22.5W (5V/4.5A) tier common on pre-2020 devices. In 2016 the Mate 9 moved to low-voltage high-current SCP, starting at 22.5W, 4.5V/5A or 5V/4.5A.
1.3 The tiers climbed steadily
(1) The 2018 Mate 20 Pro reached 40W at 10V/4A, adding a charge pump in the phone to convert to 5V/8A. (2) The 2020 Mate 40 Pro hit 66W at 11V/6A, and 2021 pushed to 100W (20V/5A). ① Cross-brand interoperability uses UFCS fusion fast charge: 1.0 interop is about 40W, 2.0 (released May 2025) targets 44W — not a 2025 universal rollout.
2. Corporate qualification and protocol authorisation
2.1 The framework agreement comes first
The SCP specification text and self-test tools open only to signatories. The certification entry is unified through the Device Partner digital-energy platform, not the developer alliance (that is the HiCar and HiPlay line). Without the agreement signed, the channel stays closed and there is nowhere to submit.
2.2 Brand and production authorisation
(1) If the nameplate carries an external brand name, you need that brand owner's authorisation letter. (2) Even a self-owned brand outsourced to a contract manufacturer still needs the production authorisation document. ① Only a build-it-yourself, research-it-yourself, make-it-yourself operation can skip this layer.
2.3 The chip solution must be within the licensed range
(1) The charging solution uses an item on Huawei's authorised list (a third-party chip that passed review and entered the list also works), or holds a module/protocol authorisation letter. (2) A stack without official key authorisation can only fall back to basic 5V with a Huawei phone and cannot trigger super-fast charge — it fails the initial review. ① A self-developed solution needs extra compatibility re-test and a simulation report, adding weeks to review. Confirm the chip is on the list before project kickoff; this affects the schedule most.
3. The technical-file stack
3.1 Product specification
List every tier's voltage and current in full; write the protocol-to-power mapping logic clearly. The handshake flow, voltage stepping and temperature-step power-reduction mechanism cannot be omitted — these are review focus areas.
3.2 Schematic and PCB layout
(1) The charging-circuit schematic marks the charging IC, power MOS, inductor and capacitor models and positions. (2) The protocol-communication pins, current-sense loop and over-voltage/over-current protection circuits are marked separately for the lab to check item by item. ① A layout that does not match the physical unit is sent straight back for redo.
3.3 BOM and firmware declaration
(1) The bill of materials must match the submitted sample. (2) The firmware version number and change log must prove the submitted version is the final shipping version. ① Scrutiny of self-test data authenticity is tighter than before; submitted firmware that disagrees with self-test data gets rejected.
3.4 Do not treat the cable as an afterthought
Cable spec follows the tier: USB-A pairs with a 5A cable (for 22.5W); 40W uses a 10V/4A cable; 66W uses a Type-C 6A cable; 100W uses a Type-C 5A cable. Write the pairing relationship into the documentation and test with the original cable. The original bundled cable cannot be fully waived from submission, but the page count can be simplified.
4. Samples and self-test report
4.1 Samples must be mass-production state
(1) Engineering samples are not accepted; flash firmware to the stable mass-production version. (2) Prepare the quantity per the lab's current requirement, with matching cables complete. ① Wrong sample state wastes the entire slot — people hit this every year.
4.2 Self-test report
(1) Run the full case set with Huawei-specified models and the official self-test tool; the pass rate must be complete. (2) An incomplete self-test is not allowed to be submitted for testing — no negotiation. ① Fabricated self-test data, if caught, means not just rejection but an immediate short-term lock on submission rights.
4.3 Know the interface types
(1) USB-A SCP handshakes via D+/D- analog levels and applies only to the 22.5W and 40W low-voltage schemes. (2) 66W and above switch to the Type-C CC channel, negotiating via private VDM messages. ① USB-A caps at 40W; 66W and above must use Type-C. Dual-port hybrid products have two-channel protocol contention, so the switch logic needs dedicated verification and should be explained in the documentation upfront.
5. Three easy mistakes
5.1 USB-IF PD certification is not a hard prerequisite
SCP is a private protocol running parallel to, not bound to, the USB-IF PD system. A pure-SCP charger without PD output does not need USB-IF first. Only if the product supports SCP and also claims PD fast charge externally do you need to handle PD separately.
5.2 Hardware changes mean re-assessment
Swapping the charging IC or key power devices requires a full re-test; software-parameter-only adjustments can take a simplified filing; a housing change does not affect the certificate. Define the change scope before planning a revision.
5.3 Do not advertise before the certificate arrives
Testing is still running and the packaging or e-commerce page already prints the mark; one trademark-compliance complaint pulls it from all channels. More than one company has eaten this loss.
