01GS certification role

The meaning of GS is German "Geprufte Sicherheit" (safety certified), and also "Germany Safety" (Germany Safety). GS certification is a voluntary certification based on the German Product Safety Law (GPGS) and tested in accordance with the EU unified standard EN or the German industrial standard DIN. It is a German safety certification mark recognized in the European market.

02GS introduction

What products can apply for GS certification

Products that can apply for GS certification are:

1. Household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, kitchen utensils, etc.

2. Household machinery.

3. Sports goods.

4. Household electronic equipment, such as audio-visual equipment.

5. Electrical and electronic office equipment, such as copiers, fax machines, shredders, computers, printers, etc.

6. Industrial machinery, experimental measurement equipment.

7. Other safety-related products such as bicycles, helmets, ladders, furniture, etc.

GS safety certification mark

1. The GS mark is a safety certification mark issued by TUV, VDE and other institutions authorized by the German Ministry of Labor.

The GS mark is a safety mark accepted by customers in Europe. Usually GS certified products sell at a higher unit price and are more popular.

2. The European Community CE regulations, 1997.1.1. Control "Low Voltage Directive (LVD)". The GS already contains all the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD). Therefore, after obtaining the GS mark, TUV will issue the CE certificate (COC) of the LVD of the product free of charge, and the certificates of TUV SÜD and TUV Rheinland after 97 years include the LVD certificate in the GS certificate. The manufacturer obtained the LVD certificate when applying for GS.

3. GS certification requirements for products and documents: - The products must pass the type test of European safety standards. - The product structure should meet the standard requirements. - Instructions (German,English) to meet the standard. - English documents such as "Structure Diagram", "Circuit Diagram" and "Parts List" prepared according to TUV requirements. Product testing will be carried out according to the parameters provided in these documents.

4. GS certification has strict requirements on the quality assurance system of the factory, and the factory should be reviewed and inspected annually: - The factory is required to establish its own quality assurance system according to the ISO9000 system standard when shipping in batches. The factory must at least have its own quality control system, quality records and other documents and sufficient production and inspection capabilities. - Before issuing the GS certificate, the new factory must be checked and qualified before the GS certificate is issued. - After the certificate is issued, the factory shall be inspected at least once a year. No matter how many TUV marks the factory applies for, the factory inspection only needs to be done once。

GS certification scope

1. Household appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, kitchen utensils, etc.

2. Household machinery.

3. Sports goods.

4. Household electronic equipment, such as audio-visual equipment.

5. Electrical and electronic office equipment, such as copiers, fax machines, shredders, computers, printers, etc.

6. Industrial machinery, experimental measurement equipment.

7. Other safety-related products such as bicycles, helmets, ladders, furniture, etc.

GS certification process

1) First meeting: Through the first meeting, the testing agency or agency will explain the specific procedures and relevant standards of certification to the applicant's product engineer, and provide the required documents to be submitted.

2) Application: The applicant submits the documents that meet the requirements. For electrical products, the final assembly drawing, electrical schematic diagram, bill of materials, product usage or installation instructions, and differences between series models need to be submitted.

3) Technical meeting: After the testing agency has checked the applicant's documents, a technical meeting will be arranged with the applicant's technicians.

4) Sample testing: The testing will be carried out in accordance with the applicable standard and can be carried out in the manufacturer's laboratory or in any of the laboratories of the inspection agency located in each country.

5) Factory inspection: GS certification requires safety-related procedural inspections of production sites.

6) Issue GS certificate.

GS certification cycle

Generally, the length of time depends on whether the product needs to be modified or how quickly the manufacturer submits the required product documentation. In general, the time required is generally about 6 to 8 weeks.

GS certification fee

The fee includes a one-time certificate fee, factory inspection fee and annual certificate fee. The exact number will depend on the type of product and the testing required. The certification body will provide you with a price reference after receiving the required documents submitted by the applicant. The market policy and credibility of each certification body are different, and the price will be different.

The relationship between GS and LVD

The European Community CE regulations, 1997.1.1. control "Low Voltage Directive (LVD)". GS already contains all the requirements of the "Low Voltage Directive (LVD)". Therefore, after obtaining the GS mark, TUV will issue the CE certificate (COC) of the LVD of the product free of charge.

LVD certificate included. The manufacturer obtained the LVD certificate when applying for GS.

03GS certification factory inspection requirements

The role of GS certification

The GS mark indicates that the safety of the product has been tested by a credible independent agency. The GS mark, although not required by law, does make the manufacturer subject to strict German (European) product safety laws in the event of an accident caused by a product failure. Therefore, the GS logo is a powerful marketing tool that can enhance customer confidence and desire to buy. Although GS is a German standard, most countries in Europe agree. And meet the GS certification at the same time, the product will also meet the requirements of the European Community's CE mark. Unlike CE, there is no legal requirement for the GS mark, but since safety awareness has penetrated into ordinary consumers, an electrical appliance with the GS mark may be more competitive in the market than ordinary products.

The above is the relevant knowledge about the role of GS certification, inspection requirements and user evaluation that Lanya Xiaobian, Orange, shared with you. I believe that everyone has a basic understanding of this.Regarding professional questions, if you have any questions, you can contact the professionals below to answer your questions, I hope it will be helpful to everyone.
