The purpose of the Plus 65 test is to protect California residents and the state's drinking water sources from substances known to cause, birth defects or other reproductive and developmental hazards, and to truthfully notify residents when such substances occur.


California Proposition 65 (Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Substances Mandatory Act) was enacted in November 1986.


Purpose of the proposal:


Protecting California Citizens and Protecting California Drinking Water Resources from Chemical Contamination with Chemicals Known to Cause Cancer, Birth Defects, or Other Reproductive Toxicants: Inform California Citizens About Chemical Exposures in Their Purchases, Homes, or Workplaces or release of chemicals into the environment.


California Proposition 65 requires at least annual publication of chemicals known to California to cause cancer or reproductive toxicity. More than 800 chemical substances have been published.
